Laura Marchisotto Bogart

Meet Laura

Over the course of my career I have been privileged to work with leading singers, instrumentalists and teachers. Teaching young musicians passes on those wonderful musical traditions and inspires a new generation of pianists.

Playing piano duets with my mother is my fondest early memory of playing the piano. I studied piano for many years and played for chorus, singers, shows and instrumentalists. In conservatory I realized that collaborative music was my real love and studying piano the gateway to it. I was hooked and never looked back.

Students speak from the heart…

I love piano best because of it's...depth...a piece is yours in so many different ways - dynamics, the mood, heaviness, being light on your fingertips, articulation (which you should always have). To play a piece well, you really have to dig in deep, become passionate about it, take the time to work and care for it. Even if your day's really busy, just taking five minutes to sit down and play it and cherish it.

Caitlin, age 10

I like the way I can express myself and my emotions without having to confide in someone because that makes me feel awkward. I love how Mrs. Bogart guides me instead of telling me very concretely how I should play.
Isaac, age 12

I love the melody of Menuet in g minor by Bach [especially] the sad part. My heart is a little bit touched.I love Mrs. Bogart’s popcorn story and always come back and share with my grandparents. I was very excited when Mrs. Bogart said I did a good job practicing by myself and rewarded me a special lollipop!

Hanke, age 6
My favorite thing about piano is if you find a piece you love, you can perform it for other people so that they can also feel the joy you feel from playing the piece. Mrs. Bogart is always positive and you can feel her passion for piano whenever she is teaching.
Sophie, age 14

I love learning piano because I can play different kinds of music. Sometimes I can see the story behind the music and sometimes I can feel the different emotions of the melodies. My favorite book is Russian School of Piano Playing. All the music in that book is very beautiful.

Mrs. Bogart’s class is lively. She uses stories to let me understand techniques and music better. Sometimes my piano sounds should “pop” like popcorn and sometimes the music should feel like sitting on a swing. The class is full of imaginations!
Seren, age 6

Mrs. Bogart’s teaching is serious. I like it! It’s pretty talented.
Amber, age 6

What I love about piano is that I get to play freely with many different notes to choose from.

What I love about Mrs. Bogart’s teaching is that she has the best ways to improve your playing!

Sophia, age 10

I like to play music for people. To make people happy. To have joy.Mrs. Bogart pushes us to be better. If something goes wrong, she always helps you out.

Nicolas, age 8

What I love best about piano is dynamics. I like music. The sound of piano is lovely.I like Mrs. Bogart’s lollipops and stickers. She is super nice! I really like her piano playing.

Sophia, age 6

What I love best about piano is playing around. Mrs. Bogart is strict in a good way and helps my technique a lot.
JJ, age 10

I love playing the pieces on the piano because they sound very beautiful. However, I know the rest of the things I do while I practice are essential for playing a piece the right way.Mrs. Bogart is patient with me and always tries to explain what I do not understand. She always keeps a cheerful attitude and a friendly tone!

Michelle, age 9

My favorite thing about piano is how I can use it as an outlet for artistic expression and play around with different elements to create something beautiful.
Neha, age 16

I really love the Bells on Top of the Hill because of the pedal. I feel happy!
Nina, age 7

I really enjoy piano because of the many choices [in pieces] that it gives you. Some instruments are more limited. I also think that piano helps sharpen or improve my focus and my memory. One thing I love about Mrs. Bogart’s teaching is that she can pick out many small problems just by listening, and she always knows the correct technique to make it better.
